RESOLUTION NO. ss64-12 BY. Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. A RESOLUTION to commend Dr. William W. Wagner, Principal of Lakewood High School, on the occasion of being named "Ohio High School Principal of the Year" by the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators. WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner joined Lakewood High as a House Principal in 2001 and has led Lakewood High as Principal since 2003; and WHEREAS, under his leadership, Lakewood High has earned an Excellent rating from the State of Ohio six out of the last seven years; and WHEREAS, he has helped bring in nearly $1 million in federal and state grants over the past five years, including a $250,000 federal grant to create model 21st century classrooms that integrate technology and project-based learning; and WHEREAS, his guidance has helped maintain the legacy of Lakewood High as a vibrant, culturally diverse learning environment that gives its students real-world experiences and a wealth of opportunities inside and outside the classroom; and WHEREAS, the administrators, teachers, staff and more than 1,800 students of Lakewood High School are inspired on a daily basis by his professionalism, good humor, and commitment to educational excellence; and WHEREAS, Dr. Wagner will now be eligible for the "National Principal of the Year Award" and will be recognized at the fall conference of the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators in October; and WHEREAS, such dedication to developing the abilities of young people in the City of Lakewood should be recognized in a proper and fitting manner; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Dr. William W. Wagner the sincere appreciation of this Council and that of all the citizens of this community for his great service to us, and further that this Council congratulates him on his outstanding achievement as "Ohio High School Principal of the Year." Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Dr. William W. Wagner at Lakewood High School.
