RESOLUTION NO. 8567-12 By. Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. A RESOLUTION celebrating the 100'h Anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the USA was founded March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia, and WHEREAS, throughout its long and distinguished history, Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls and women with the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism, and WHEREAS, through Girl Scouting girls gain courage, confidence, character. and make their communities and the world a better place, and WHEREAS, Girl Scouting takes an active role in increasing girls' awareness of the opportunities available to them today in math, science, health and fitness, technology and community service that expands their horizons, and WHEREAS, more than 3.4 million cunent Girl Scout members nationwide will be celebrating 100years of this American tradition, with nearly 50 million women who are former Girl Scouts and living proof of the impact of this amazing Movement; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood hereby celebrate the 100`x' Anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. Section 2. That fw•ther we hope to take inspiration from the Girl Scout pledge; "to be Honest and Fair, Friendly and Helpful, Considerate and Caring, Courageous and Strong," throughout our public service. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal section were in meetings open to this public in compliance with all legal requirements.
