RESOLUTION NO. 8567-12 By. Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, <br />Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION celebrating the 100'h Anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. <br />WHEREAS, the Girl Scouts of the USA was founded March 12, 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low in <br />Savannah, Georgia, and <br />WHEREAS, throughout its long and distinguished history, Girl Scouting has inspired millions of girls <br />and women with the highest ideals of character, conduct and patriotism, and <br />WHEREAS, through Girl Scouting girls gain courage, confidence, character. and make their <br />communities and the world a better place, and <br />WHEREAS, Girl Scouting takes an active role in increasing girls' awareness of the opportunities <br />available to them today in math, science, health and fitness, technology and community service that expands <br />their horizons, and <br />WHEREAS, more than 3.4 million cunent Girl Scout members nationwide will be celebrating 100years <br />of this American tradition, with nearly 50 million women who are former Girl Scouts and living proof of the <br />impact of this amazing Movement; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood hereby celebrate the <br />100`x' Anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. <br />Section 2. That fw•ther we hope to take inspiration from the Girl Scout pledge; "to be Honest and Fair, <br />Friendly and Helpful, Considerate and Caring, Courageous and Strong," throughout our public service. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to <br />the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of <br />this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal section were in meetings open to this <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted:~~ eu.t,~.. ~ 1, ~0 0 ( 2 <br />C'U <br />Approved: Zu/ L, <br />President <br />Mayor <br />
