Resolution No: $576-12 By: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Madigan, Nowlin, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, as Director of Public Safety and on behalf of <br />the City of Lakewood, to proclaim May 21-25, 2012 as Emergency Medical Services Week. <br />WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, <br />nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, educators, administrators and <br />others; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are dedicated and <br />committed to making our community stronger and more resilient; and <br />WHEREAS, this year's theme, "EMS: More Than a Job. A Calling", focuses on those <br />who make immediate yet informed decisions about emergency treatment and care on a daily <br />basis; and <br />WHEREAS, EMS first responders help to reduce death and disability by applying ever- <br />increasing skills to the wide variety of medical circumstances they face; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department is joining with the American Red Cross to <br />hold a blood drive at Lakewood City Hall on Thursday, May 24`h from 1-6 PM, to help save <br />lives. Now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor declare May 21-25, 2012 as Emergency Medical <br />Services Week in the City of Lakewood. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy this Resolution to: Chief Scott Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison <br />Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this <br />meeting. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />
