RESOLUTION NO. 8579-12 BI'~ Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, <br />Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION supporting the grant application, authorizing any necessary agreements <br />required by the Division of Police with the Ohio Attorney General's Office for Funding for the City's <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, and commending the Division of Police for its cartinued <br />efforts to educate young people of the City of Lakewood as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Police (Police) has operated the Drug Abuse Resistance Education <br />(D.A.R.E.) program since 1990; and <br />WHEREAS, the Police are currently operating D.A.R.E. programs in all elementary and middle <br />schools within the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the D.A.R.E. program has a positive influence on the young people of the City <br />through education as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs; and <br />WHEREAS, the number of students participating in and graduating from the D.A.R,E. program <br />increases annually; and <br />WHEREAS, fimding to support the continued operation of the D.A,R.E. program is available <br />from the Ohio Attorney General's office. Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section I. That the Mayor and the Council hereby support the grant application by the Division <br />of Police to the Ohio Attorney General's Office for the funding for the city's Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Education program and authorize any agreements required to accept any fiords awarded under the <br />program. <br />Section 2. That the Mayor and Council hereby support the Division of Police for its continued <br />efforts in educating young people of the City as to the hazards of alcohol and drugs. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and <br />relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all <br />such deliberations of this Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal actions were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with <br />all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: ~ ~ ~~ ~`° <br />f <br />Uo1_ ~~ <br />President <br />Approved: ~ 2 ~l ~ <br />
