Anderso ~ull~ck Ju~i~ Madi an <br />~Ew in, ow~rs, m th g <br />A RESOLUTION commemorating the installation of a magnificent 1000 <br />pound metal cast church bell high atop St. Peter Episcopal Church. <br />WHEREAS, St. Peter Episcopal Church at 18001 Detroit Avenue was <br />built in 1927 abounding in beauty and stature at its base, and prominently structured to <br />house a traditional church bell at its tower, and <br />WHEREAS, while ably set for the arrival of its bell, the arrival of the <br />Great Depression and subsequent economic and strategic challenges left the belfry barren <br />for the next 85 years, and <br />WHEREAS, parishioners continued to hope their church would one day <br />join the chorus of neighboring churches in ringing out weddings and births, holidays and <br />services, and <br />WHEREAS, fmally, on November 17, 2012, due in large part to a gift <br />of an anonymous donor, the tower found its voice and summoned St. Peter Episcopal <br />Church parishioners to Sunday service, and <br />WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that we celebrate with St. Peter <br />Episcopal parishioners for contributing to the harmony of the larger community with the <br />addition of their church bell, now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor extend to St. Peter Episcopal <br />Church heartfelt thanks for adding to the symphony of our great City with the sounding <br />of their newly installed church bell and wish them to continue to live up to their mission <br />to strive for justice and peace among all people. <br />Section 2.
