RESOLUTION NO. 8658 -13 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, <br />Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith. <br />A RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, as Director of Public Safety and on behalf of <br />the City of Lakewood, to proclaim May 20 -24, 2013, as Emergency Medical Services Week. <br />WHEREAS, the emergency medical services system consists of emergency physicians, <br />nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, firefighters, educators, administrators and <br />others; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are dedicated and <br />committed to making our community stronger and more resilient; and <br />WHEREAS, this year's theme, "EMS: One Mission, One Team," focuses on those who <br />make immediate yet informed decisions about emergency treatment and care on a daily basis and <br />provide critical public outreach; and <br />WHEREAS, EMS first responders help to reduce death and disability by applying ever - <br />increasing skills to the wide variety of medical circumstances they face; and <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood Fire Department is joining with the Lakewood City Schools <br />Board of Education, Lakewood High School and AT &T to help save lives by promoting an anti - <br />texting- while - driving campaign titled "It Can Wait'; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. This Council and Mayor declare May 20 -24, 2013, as Emergency Medical <br />Services Week in the City of Lakewood. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward <br />a copy this Resolution to: Chief Scott Gilman, Fire Station No. 1, 14601 Madison Avenue, <br />Lakewood, Ohio and a that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br />Section 3.
