RESOLUTION NO. 8662 -13
BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris,
Madigan, Nowlin, Powers, Smith.
A RESOLUTION honoring Lakewood Ward 4 business owner Ralph J. Lukich
on being named 2013 Business Person of the Year by the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce.
WHEREAS, Mr. Lukich has become a familiar, "can do" leader among small
business owners and artists in what the neighborhood fondly calls "The Screw Factory, " and
WHEREAS, Ralph J. Lukich had vision enough to turn an old manufacturing
plant on Athens Avenue into an artist space, organically creating an artistic and economic
incubator, and
WHEREAS, Mi•. Lukich and other investors, many of whom had roots in the old Lake
Erie Screw facility formed the Pride One Omni Group, transforming the historic Birdtown building to
what it is today, and
WHEREAS, Omni Lakewood continues to expand, presently having nearly 100 tenants
ranging from heavy industrial companies, manufacturing, warehousing, storage, print shops, office space,
all manner of fitness activities to a multitude of artists working in a variety of media, and
WHEREAS, the Templar Motor Car museum honors Lakewood's past on Athens Avenue
because Mi•. Lukich respects where we came from and looks forward to where we are going.
WHEREAS, it is only fitting and proper that this Council and Mayor join the Lakewood
Chamber of Commerce in recognizing the monetary, emotional and physical investment Ralph J. Lukich
has made to our community, especially for his investment in Ward 4; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
Section 1. That this Council and Mayor, for and on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood
hereby honor Ralph J. Lukich, on being named 2013 Business Person of the Year by the Lakewood
Chamber of Commerce.
Section 2.
