SUBSTITUTE FOR 8696 -13 Referred to <br />Committee of the Whole 12/6/14, DEFERRED <br />3/3/14) <br />RESOLUTION NO. 8696 -13 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juris, Madigan, <br />Marx, Nowlin, O'Leary. <br />A RESOLUTION creating the Lakewood Recreation Task Force for the purpose of <br />studying the current state of recreation offerings in the City of Lakewood and making <br />recommendations for the future. <br />WHEREAS, responsibility for recreation facilities and programming is currently split <br />between the City of Lakewood, the Lakewood City School District, and various other <br />entities; and <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood City Council and the Lakewood School Board have had a <br />productive and cordial working relationship over the past several years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of Lakewood and the Superintendent of the Lakewood City <br />School District have engaged in discussions regarding the future of recreation in <br />Lakewood; and <br />WHEREAS, the citizens of Lakewood deserve modern and efficient recreation facilities <br />and programs now and in the future; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That the Lakewood Recreation Task Force is hereby established for the <br />purpose of studying the current state of recreation offerings in the City of Lakewood and <br />making recommendations for the future. <br />Section 2. The Lakewood Recreation Task Force shall be composed of seven members, three of <br />whom shall be appointed by Council, two of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor and two of <br />whom shall be appointed by the Board of Education. The appointees shall have no formal term <br />and may select a chairperson from among them. Council may appoint a representative from <br />among councilmembers to attend task force meetings as a non - voting member. The Mayor or <br />any designee of his or her choosing shall serve as a non - voting member. <br />Section 3. It is contemplated that the Task Force shall make a report to Council, the Mayor, and <br />the Board of Education within six months of its first meeting. The Task Force may be disbanded <br />without further action after 12 months from the date of its first meeting. <br />
