RESOLUTION NO. 8762 -14 By: Anderson, Bullock, Suris, <br />Madigan, Marx, Nowlin, O'Leary. <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the vote of at least five <br />members of Council, or otherwise to take effect at the earliest period allowed by law, authorizing <br />the City of Lakewood to execute and file an application with the Ohio Department of Natural <br />Resources for financial assistance through the NatureWorks program and to obligate the neces- <br />sary funds for the grant. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Ohio, through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, ad- <br />ministers financial assistance for public recreation purposes, through the State of Ohio Nature- <br />Works grant program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood desires financial assistance under the NatureWorks <br />program; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five of its members determines that this <br />resolution is an emergency measure and that it shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set <br />forth in Article III, Sections 10 and 13 of the Second Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood <br />and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, health, and safety <br />and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that applications for the <br />NatureWorks program were required to postmarked no later than September 1, 2014; now, there- <br />fore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. The Council of the City of Lakewood hereby approves filing an application <br />for financial assistance from the NatureWorks program. <br />Section 2. The Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to execute and file <br />an application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and to provide all information and <br />documentation required to become eligible for possible funding assistance. <br />Section 3. The City of Lakewood does hereby agree obligate the funds required to satis- <br />factorily complete the proposed project and become eligible for reimbursement under the terms <br />of the NatureWorks Grant Program. <br />Section 4. This resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary for <br />the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety and welfare in the City <br />and for the usual daily operation of the City for the reasons set forth and defined in the preamble <br />to this resolution, and provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five members of Coun- <br />cil this resolution shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption by the Council <br />and approval by the Mayor, or otherwise it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest peri- <br />
