Anderaen,Bullock,George,Litten <br />RESOLUTION NO. 9009 -18 BY: o' Leary,G'Malley <br />Rader <br />A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of <br />at least two thirds of the members of Council, or otherwise to take effect and be in force after the <br />earliest period allowed by law, authorizing the Director of Planning and Development to file an <br />application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources requesting financial assistance from <br />the NatureWorks program for improvements to the City of Lakewood. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Ohio through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, <br />administers financial assistance for public recreation purposes, through the NatureWorks grant <br />program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood desires financial assistance under the NatureWorks <br />grant program fund; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has commissioned the production of a concept design <br />predicated on public participation; and <br />WHEREAS, the concept design has been approved by the Lakewood Planning <br />Commission and was greatly informed by the Parks Strategic Master Plan and the Community <br />Vision; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has committed $80,800 to the purchase of <br />construction sets for the Wagar Park Improvement plan, meeting the matching funds requirement <br />for the NatureWorks grant application; and <br />WHEREAS, any financial assistance obtained would leverage the dollars already <br />committed by the city and enable the city to complete the project efficiently; and <br />WHEREAS, as set forth in Section 2.12 of the Third Amended Charter of the City of <br />Lakewood, this Council by a vote of at least two thirds of its members determines that this <br />resolution is an emergency measure and that it shall take effect immediately, and that it is <br />necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, health, and safety and to provide <br />for the usual daily operation of municipal departments, in that completed applications for the <br />NatureWorks grant are due no later than July 1, 2018; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. The Director of Planning and Development is hereby authorized to execute and <br />file an application with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the NatureWorks grant <br />
