Anderson, Bullock, George, Litten, <br />O'Leary, O'Malley, Rader <br />RESOLUTION 9067 -19 BY: <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize the Lakewood High School Academic Challenge Team for its <br />hard work, practice and preparation which have resulted in an outstanding record of success <br />during its 2018 -2019 season. <br />WHEREAS, the Lakewood High School Academic Challenge Team finished fifth out of <br />32 competing schools at the Solon Tournament in November 2018 and second out of 38 <br />competing schools at the Olmsted Falls Tournament in December 2018; and, <br />WHEREAS, success in these major tournaments qualifies the Academic Challenge Team <br />to compete in the very selective Regional and State Ohio Academic Challenge Tournaments and <br />the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament later this spring; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Team's outstanding record of success this season is attributable to strong <br />leadership by its advisors Mr. Sedlak and Mi•. Petto and co- captains Michael Ferrone & Tim <br />Daso, as well as its rigorous schedule of preparation, practice, and conference matches. Now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby recognize the Lakewood High School Academic <br />Challenge Team for its hard work, practice and preparation which have resulted in an <br />outstanding record of success during its 2018 -2019 season. <br />Section 2. That this Council does hereby recognize the families, advisors, and school <br />community who have encouraged and supported the Academic Challenge Team and its <br />members. <br />Section 3. That this Council does hereby express pride in having the Academic Challenge <br />Team represent Lakewood in state and national competition and wishes them a rewarding, <br />challenging, and fun experience at their upcoming tournaments. <br />Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted: L� !�-J ti <br />�IIIIll3;� <br />Approved: <br />MAYOR <br />
