Anderson, Bullock, George, Litten, O'Leary, <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2019-17 BY: O'Malley, Rader <br />A RESOLUTION to commend Meghan F. George for her exemplary public service as a member <br />of Lakewood City Council. <br />WHEREAS, after years of public service to the City of Lakewood, Meghan George was <br />elected to the position of councilmember at -large in the November 2017 election and tools office <br />January 1, 2018; and, <br />WHEREAS, Ms. George hit the ground running on City Council, quickly immersing <br />herself in the details of public policy topics ranging from food truck regulations to historic <br />preservation, among others; and, <br />WHEREAS, Ms. George championed women and families by introducing a paid parental <br />leave policy for City employees and by taking a stand against the Ohio General Assembly's <br />"heartbeat bill," which restricts abortion to an extent likely to be found unconstitutional; and, <br />WHEREAS, Ms. George endeared herself to residents through her dedication to hands-on <br />constituent services and eagerness to listen to and help residents with their questions and <br />concerns; and, <br />WHEREAS, Ms. George has resigned her at -large Council seat effective January 1, 2020 <br />to assume the responsibilities of the Office of the Mayor to which she was elected; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council does hereby commend Meghan F. George for her two years <br />of dedicated public service as a member of Lakewood City Council. <br />Section 2. That this Council does hereby wish Ms. George all the best as she assumes her <br />new responsibilities as Mayor and looks forward to continuing to work alongside her in this new, <br />important role. <br />Adopted: ��W e [ )-o l� <br />Approved: Z 2- ,. <br />MAYOR <br />
