F31., hock, Keppl , L-.tten, Neff; <br />Of Malley, Rader, Shachner <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2021-49 BY: <br />A RESOLUTION to recognize and celebrate the many contributions of Grace <br />Presbyterian Church on the centennial anniversary of its founding. <br />WHEREAS, in 1920 Grace Presbyterian Church opened its doors in the City of <br />Lakewood, ready to fulfill its dual mission of worship and service to the community; and, <br />WHEREAS, over the past 100 years, through its steady presence and welcoming <br />re <br />g g <br />con ation, Grace Presbyterian Church has built and maintained a dedicated group of <br />congregants and friends committed to this mission; and, <br />WHEREAS, over the years, Grace Presbyterian Church has responded to needs in the <br />community in various ways. In 1982, Grace Presbyterian and 11 other Lakewood churches <br />joinedg together to establish Lakewood Christian Service Center, now known as Lakewood <br />Community Services Center. For a time, the Church also served as the hub for Meals on Wheels; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, Grace Presbyterian Church believes that its calling at this time is to serve as <br />a gathering lace for the community and opens its doors to many community programs such as <br />g gp <br />childcare and mental health and addiction services; and, <br />WHEREAS, despite changing times, the endurance of Grace Presbyterian Church in <br />p <br />Lakewood speaks to the strength of this congregation's collective spirituality and leadership; <br />Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council and Mayor hereby recognize Grace Presbyterian Church on <br />the 100th anniversary of its founding and for the important community services that it has <br />provided over the last century and continues to provide today. <br />Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to present a <br />certified copy of this resolution to the congregation of Grace Presbyterian Church. <br />Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning <br />and relating to the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, <br />and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. <br />Adopted:001 <br />-�� Daniel J.
