Placed on 1st reading & <br />referred to HPD 10/4/21; <br />2nd reading 10/18/21 <br />Bullock, Kepple, bitten, lletf, <br />ORDINANCE NO.36-2021 BY: O'Malley, Rader, Shadhneir. <br />AN ORDINANCE to take effect January 1, 2022 to amend Section 1309.15 Plans <br />Examiner Fee to establish a fee for residential plans examining to reflect Lakewood's cost in <br />reviewing such plans. <br />WHEREAS, there is currently no fee charged for the review of residential plans in the City <br />of Lakewood; and <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood employees or contractors must review all construction plans <br />submitting to the Division of Housing and Building for compliance with applicable codes; and <br />WHEREAS, $25.00 is less than employee or contractor time in making such reviews and <br />approving plans; now, therefore <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. That Section 1309.15 Plans Examiner Fee of the Lakewood Codified <br />Ordinances, currently reading as follows: <br />1309.15 PLANS EXAMINER FEE. <br />Whenever the Building Commissioner determines that an examination of construction plans by a <br />professional plans examiner is necessary for the enforcement of the Building Code or required by <br />other applicable law, there shall be charged a fee of two hundred dollars ($200.00), plus five dollars <br />($5.00) per 100 square feet, or part thereof, of the proposed structure, and an additional fee in the <br />amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the original plans examination fee for all resubmittals. <br />is hereby repealed. <br />Section 2. That new Section 1309.15 Plans Examiner Fee of the Lakewood Codified <br />Ordinances is hereby enacted to read as follows: <br />1309.15 PLANS EXAMINER FEE. <br />(a) Whenever the Building Commissioner determines that an examination of construction plans by <br />a professional plans examiner is necessary for the enforcement of the Building Code or required by <br />other applicable law for a commercial property, there shall be charged a fee of two hundred dollars <br />($200.00), plus five dollars ($5.00) per 100 square feet, or part thereof, of the proposed structure, <br />and an additional fee in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the original plans examination <br />fee for all resubmittals. <br />(b) Whenever the Building Commissioner determines that an examination of construction <br />plans by a professional plans examiner is necessary for the enforcement of the Building Code <br />
