MINUTES OF COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br /> May 16, 2022 <br /> Auditorium <br /> Present: Councilmembers Baker, Bullock, Kepple, Litten, Rader, Shachner <br /> Also Present: Law Director Corrigan, Finance Director Rancatore, Deputy Clerk Lascu, Clerk <br /> Bach taking minutes <br /> Call to Order: 7:10 p.m. <br /> Approval of the minutes of the April 28, 2022 & May 2, 2022 Committee of the <br /> Whole <br /> Motion by Vice President Litten, seconded by Councilmember Kepple to approve the minutes of <br /> the April 28, 2022 and May 2, 2022 Committee of the Whole. All members voted in favor. <br /> Motion passed. Minutes approved. <br /> RESOLUTION 2022-18 -A RESOLUTION to take effect immediately provided it <br /> receives the affirmative vote of at least two thirds of the members of Council, or <br /> otherwise to take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, <br /> appointing to the Ward 4 seat on Lakewood City Council for <br /> the remainder of the four-year term ending December 31, 2023. <br /> Committee of the Whole discussed the process for evaluating and interviewing candidates for the <br /> Ward 4 Councilmember position. <br /> In response to a question, Law Director Corrigan advised that it is permissible under the City's <br /> local ordinance and the current state authority for a councilmember to participate virtually in the <br /> interviews. <br /> It was clarified through discussion that the interviews will be open to the public, recorded and <br /> livestreamed. <br /> A majority of Councilmembers expressed a preference for interviewing all applicants and stated <br /> their rationale for that opinion. <br /> The committee decided to hold interviews on May 23rd and May 31" and to deliberate on June <br /> 6d', potentially in executive session. <br /> Committee of the Whole adjourned at 7:30 p.m. <br /> 1 <br />
