Bullock III, Sarah Kepple, John Litten, <br /> Cindy Marx, Tristan Rader, Jason Shachner <br /> Present from the Board of Education: President Betsy Bergen Shaughnessy, Vice <br /> President Mr. Michael Callahan, Linda Beebe, Ms. Nora Katzenberger, Ms. Emma Petrie <br /> Barcelona <br /> Also Present: Mayor George, Planning Director Shawn Leininger, Assistant Planning <br /> Director Milius, Law Director Vargo, Chief of Staff John Storey, Deputy Clerk Lascu, <br /> Clerk Bach, Superintendent Niedzwiecki, Treasurer Zeman, Brent Sobczak of CASTO, <br /> Tracey Nichols of Project Management Consultants (via phone), Ken Kalynchuk of <br /> Project Management Consultants, Bart Simon of North Pointe Realty <br /> Downtown Development Update and Financial Discussion <br /> Planning Director Leininger provided a presentation discussing the background and history <br /> of the site and its development following the closure of Lakewood Hospital in 2015. He <br /> mentioned that Casto and North Pointe Realty offered an initial proposal to the city in 2017 <br /> and began working on the current version of the proposal in 2020. In 2021, the downtown <br /> development panel worked with Casto to update and reimagine the proposal in light of the <br /> changes that have occurred on the site and the known environmental issues. <br /> Director Leininger explained the role of Roundstone Insurance as the site's anchor tenant, <br /> City Council, and the city's boards and commissions as the project moves toward final <br /> approval. He provided visuals to explain the site plan in detail. <br /> Director Leininger discussed several of the City's 13 development objectives that it <br /> developed following the closure of the hospital and how this project meets those objectives. <br /> He highlighted affordable and accessible housing, historic preservation, neighborhood fit, the <br /> community gathering space and the mixed-use nature of the development. <br /> 1 <br />
