DocuSign Envelope ID: 8DCB8AEC-F51 F-457F-AEB4-5612600EA2B0 <br />- RESOLUTION 2023-40 BY: Baker, Litten, Marx, <br />Rader, Shachner <br />A Resolution to posthumously honor Chase Avenue resident Coletta Graham and to express <br />condolences to her family, friends, and the many who have been touched by her determined and <br />passionate spirit. <br />WHEREAS, through her decades of political, civic, and community involvement, Coletta <br />Graham developed a well -deserved reputation as a concerned citizen and one of Lakewood's <br />most engaged and active residents; and, <br />WHEREAS, unafraid to speak her mind and fully willing to exercise her rights to <br />participate in the democratic process, Coletta Graham voiced her positions on civic matters by <br />tirelessly penning letters to the editor, running for public office multiple times, and regularly <br />delivering public comment at city hall meetings well into her seventies; and, <br />WHEREAS, by consistently holding her city's elected officials to the highest standards <br />over many years, Coletta Graham undoubtedly improved the quality of local decision -leaking; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, by speaking up and speaking out, Coletta Graham represented friends and <br />neighbors who were unable or unwilling to do so for themselves, demanding action on everyday <br />hatters affecting Lakewoodites ranging from speeding, potholes, safety, use of public assets and <br />tax dollars, and many other quality of life issues; and, <br />WHEREAS, whatever point of view one may have held on a given issue, Coletta <br />Graham's extraordinary attentiveness to and participation in civic and political life are to be <br />applauded and upheld as an example for other citizens to emulate; and, <br />WHEREAS, Coletta Graham's deep involvement in Lakewood's civic and governmental <br />process provides another example of the long tradition of confident and vocal female leaders <br />influencing public policy and practice in Lakewood; and <br />WHEREAS, the legacy of Coletta Graham's fiery spirit, and loyalty and service to her <br />family, friends, church, and community will forever be remembered by those who knew and <br />loved her; Now, therefore: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1. That this Council hereby expresses condolences to Mr. Edward Graham, Coletta's <br />husband of 52 years; her five children Bridget, Maryann, Michael, Nora, and Edward and her <br />eight grandchildren in whom she delighted. <br />Section 2. That this Council hereby expresses its gratitude for and acknowledges the important <br />legacy of Coletta Graham's political and civic engagement at Lakewood City Hall. <br />
