(1st read & referred to PC & HPD 12/18/23; 2nd reading
1/2/24)
Councilmember Shachner asked Planning Director Leininger if there have been any inquiries
from businesses interested in pursuing cultivation and/or processing of cannabis in Lakewood, to
which Director Leininger responded that the only inquiries they have received have been for
dispensaries. A conversation then followed about whether the moratorium could pose a barrier
for businesses interested in obtaining a license to open an adult use dispensary in Lakewood.
Law Director Vargo explained that given the timeline and process of applying for a license to
operate, the moratorium should not be a barrier since it will expire at the end of July.
1
