TIiE SIX PER CENT PROMPT PAYMENT. DISC OUT?1'._ <br />ZMFEAS, the Counci].s bf the mwzicipalitiss of Cuyahoga County have <br />heretofore considered and adopted their budgets for 1955,.and have subznitted <br />such budgets to tne county Bud.ge-t Comnission for app-roval, and <br />MIGREAS, such bud.gets did not include any provision £or an additional <br />cost of 6% for lighting of the streets of the municipalities, and <br />I-MREAS, the Village of I4ayfield is not able to assume the extra 6% <br />cost of such s-treet ]i.ghts without levy:ing a tax, therefore, <br />NQ?i T'riEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TIM, COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF <br />P1A.YFIELD, S`rkTE OF OHIOa - -- <br />Sec. l. That this Council hereby raquests that the Cleveland <br />Electric 11'um3nating Company wi.thdraw its cancell.ation of the 6% discount <br />allowed to municipalities for prompt payment of their bills for street lighting, <br />f or the T o1lovti. ng reasons : <br />(a) Because of the tarcLiness of the Cleveland Electric <br />I11umi.nating company in subnLi.tt3.ng the proposed cancellation, trhich <br />cancellation results in an increased rate for the Company, no <br />municipal.ities of the County were able to include in their 1955 budgets <br />tne fuL1. amount of money necessary to meet the bills for Lgn-ting of <br />their streets. <br />- (b) That this Council be]ieves that The CleveZand Electric <br />Illuminating Corrmany does not desire to cause undue ha.rdship to the <br />murii.cipalities of -this County, but rather th.at the Company did not <br />realiza that its failure to notiiy the municipalities prior to tne <br />July 15th deadline for submission of such budgeta, pravents such <br />mun.icipalities from inseruing into their budgets sufficient revenue <br />to pay for tne additional 6% costi of such street lighting caused by <br />cancellation of the discount. <br />Sece 2. That this resolution shall take effect and be in force <br />innediately upon its passage and signature by the Mayor. <br />Aciopted this 20th day of December, 1954. <br />Attest s iCoZ?•-GuC?
