ORDINANCE N0. 84- 15 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A POLICE CRUISER FROM DEACON'S CHRYSLER-PLYMOUTH IN THE AMOUNT OF TEN THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED NINETY SIX DOLLARS AND FIFTY CENTS ($10,996.50), DECLARING SUCH PUR- CH ASE TO BE AN EMERGENCY AND DECLARING THIS ORDINANCE TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE. WHEREAS, on February 13, 198`4--a police cruiser owned by the municipality was damaged in a collision; and WHEREAS, an estimate of repairs to said vehicle resulted in an amount that, based on the age and condition of the vehicle, rendered it economically unfeasible to repair said vehicle; and WHEREAS, the of oresaid vehicle had already been designated for replacement during calendar year 1984; and WHEREAS, the municipality learned, through its Director of Finance, that a representative of Deacon's Chrysler-Plymouth had an opportunity to purchase, for the municipality, a police cruiser that was available on an immediate basis; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the municipality determined that in order to maintain the effective daily operation of the Police Department of the municipality it was necessary to immediately purchase such automobile without advertising for competi- tive bids; and WHEREAS, the aforementioned automobile has been purchased from Deacon's Chrysler-Plymouth and is now in service with the Police Department of the municipality; and WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, does hereby express its intent to ratify the purchase of the aforementioned auto- mobile for the reasons set forth hereinabove; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. The Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, does hereby declare that the purchase of the police cruiser from Deacon's Chrysler-Plymouth, as set forth hereinabove, was an emergency purchase necessary to maintain the effective daily operations of the Police Department of Mayfield Village.
