RESOLUTION N0. 82- 62 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE RATE TNCREASE <br />REQUESTED BY THE EAST OHIO GAS COMPANY. <br />WHEREAS, the East Ohio Gas Company has recently announced its <br />intent to seek from the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio an <br />additional rate increase for gas service in its entire service area; and <br />WHEREAS, this proposed rate increase, if permitted, would <br />increase the already extreme financial burdens borne by the residents <br />of Mayfield Village and other communities throughout Northeastern Ohio <br />by increasing the already exhorbitant utilities bills and would be <br />a particular hardship on senior citizens and other individuals on <br />fixed income; and <br />WHEREAS, there does not appear to be any justification for <br />an increase in rates and charges as proposed by the East.Ohio Gas Company <br />and is another example of their absolute disregard for customers and <br />the public interest; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, <br />urges the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to reject the latest <br />rate increase proposed by the East Ohio Gas Company. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />- directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Governor James A. <br />Rhodes, to a11 members of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, <br />to the entire Cuyahoga County Delegation to the General Assembly <br />and to the Clerks of Council in the Hillcrest Areao <br />Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open.meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in <br />such formal action took place? in meeting open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements, including the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 4.
