ORDINANCE NO. 81-37 INTRODUCED BY : ~, Flynn AN ORDINANCE PROPOSED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL SUBMITTING TO THE ELECTORS OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THE QUESTION AS TO WHETHER THE CHARTER OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE SHOULD BE AMENDED TO PROVIDE FOR THE P-OSSIBILI'I'Y ~OF A RECESS BY COUNCIL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. Pursuant to Article X of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, the Village Council proposes the following amendment to the Charter of the Village, to be submitted to the electors of the Village at the regular election to be held in the municipality on the 3rd day of November, 1981. The change proposed to the Charter will'.~.be the first sentence of Article III, Section 8 of the Charter, which now reads: "The Council shall hold at least one regular meeting in each calendar month." shall be changed to read: "The Council shall hold at least one regular meeting in each calendar month but may waive, by majority vote taken in advance, not more than one such meeting each calendar year." Section 2. The ballot question shall be: "Shall the Charter of Mayfield Village be amended to provide that the Village Council may recess during not more than one month each calendar year?" Section 3. The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed to certify a copy of this Ordinance to the Board of Elections, Cuyahoga County, immediately upon its passage for inclusion on the ballot at the general election to be held in the municipality on the 3rd day of November, 1981, and to take such other steps as are required pursuant to Ohio law to cause such election to be validly held. Section 4. The Law Director is authorized, empowered and directed to confer with the Board of Elections regarding the ballot questions and to make any changes necessary to comply with current election law so long as the substance of the issue is not changed.
