URGING THE STATE LEGISI,.~TUItE <br />TO ENACT S.B., 316, ,PROVIDING INCRE.A,SED <br />COMPENSATION FOR TRIAL JUDGES. <br />WHEREAS, recent statistics indicated that Ohio ranks 48th <br />in the nation in the amount paid to trial judges from State funds; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Ohio's trial judges are currently earning the <br />salary they did in 1978; and <br />WHEREAS, judicial morale may become acutely affected by the <br />low pay received by trial judges coupled with the increasing demand <br />being placed upon them by society; and <br />WHEREAS, trial judges are an intrcal part of the local <br />and state government function and the need to attr;.act qualified <br />judicial candidates is becoming increasingly important; and <br />WHEREAS, S.B. 316, currently pending before the State <br />Legislature is designed to bring the compensation of trial judges <br />to a level commensurate with their colleagues in the other states <br />for the year 1981 and the succeeding three (3j years; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and Council urge the State Legislature <br />to enact S.B. 316 at its earliest opportunity. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directe to forward a copy of this Resolution to Governor James A. <br />Rhodes, to all State Legislators from Cuyahoga County and to the <br />Clerks.of Council in the Hillcrest area, <br />Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and <br />that deliberations o~ this Council and of its committees, resulting <br />i.n such formal action, took place in meetings open: to the public, i.n <br />compliance with all statutory requirements, inclia.ding the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code, <br />
