ORDINANCE N0, g0-19 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole <br />AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 175.0501 <br />OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF 1VIAYFIELD VILLAGE <br />BY INCREASING THE RATE OF MUNICIPAL INCOME TAX <br />TO 1-1/2 PERCENT; PROVIDING FOR SUBMISSION OF THE <br />AMENDMENT TO THE ELECTORS AS REQUIRED BY LAW. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Section 175,0501 of the Codified Ordinances <br />of Mayfield Village is amended by changing the first sentence to <br />read as follows: <br />"An annual tax for the purposes specified in Section <br />175.0101 hereof shall be imposed on and after July 1, 1980, <br />at the rate of one and one-half percent (1-1/2%) per annum <br />upon the following:" <br />The balance of Section 175.0501 shall remain as in effect at .t his <br />time. <br />Section 2. As required by Ohio Revised Code Section 718.01, <br />the amendment specified in Section 1 of this Ordinance shall take <br />effect only if approved by the affirmative vote of at least Fifty <br />percent (50%) of the electors of the municipality who vote on the <br />question at the election to be held in the Village of Mayfield <br />Village on June 3, 1980. The question shall be put in the following <br />form: <br />"Shall the ordinance providing for a one and one-half <br />percent (1-1/2%) tax levy on income for general operating <br />expenses and for such other purposes as are authorized by <br />ordinance be passed?" <br />FOR THE INCOME TAX <br />AGAINST THE INCOME TAX <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council is authorized and directed <br />to certify a copy of this ordinance to the Board of Elections of <br />Cuyahoga County prior to April 4, 1980, for the purpose of having <br />the question set forth in Section 2 placed on the ballot on June 3, <br />1980. <br />Section 4. This is an emergency ordinance immediately <br />necessary for the preservation of the general health, safety and <br />welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village in that the additional <br />income tax levy set forth herein is essential to the continued effec- <br />tive operation of the governmental and safety operations of the <br />Village and must be placed before the electors at the earliest <br />
