ORDINANCE NO. 80-44 <br />Page -2= <br />1505.09 AMENDMENTS. <br />The Fire Prevention Code adopted <br />by the enactment, amendment or deletion <br />as respectively indicated, which changes <br />set forth herein: <br />herein is modified <br />of the following provisions <br />are hereby adopted as <br />BOLA-BFPO Section F-503.4 Lighting (Amended): Stairways, <br />hallways, and other means of egress, including exterior <br />open spaces to or through which an exit way leads, shall be <br />kept adequately lighted at all times that the building served <br />thereby is occupied. <br />Each room, hall or auditorium having a capacity of <br />fifty (50) persons, and each place of business open to the <br />public after 6:00'~P.M. and each interior room where people <br />work without natural light and each apartment house shall <br />be provided with lights meeting the provisions of Sections <br />F-503.1 through F=503.3, inclusive, and so located and supplied <br />with current as to provide, with one service interrupted, <br />emergency illumination without appreciable delay. Such <br />installation may. consist of any of the following: <br />(1) an emergency lighting system, independent <br />of the general lighting system with provision for <br />automatically transferring, by means of devices approved <br />for the purpose, the emergency system from a defective <br />supply to another supply; <br />(2) two~or more separate and complete systems with <br />independent current supply, each providing emergency lighting. <br />Unless both systems are kept lighted, means shall be <br />provided for automatically lighting each system upon failure <br />of the other; <br />(3) any other installation approved as adequate for <br />the purpose of; this Section in the manner required by this <br />Fire Prevention Code; <br />(4) in buildings that are required to have a fire <br />alarm system, 'the fire alarm system must be supplied with <br />emergency power so that it-will function normally in the <br />event of a primary power failure. <br />1505.99 PENALTY. <br />Whoever violates any provision of this Fire Prevention <br />Code or fails to comply therewith, or violates or fails to comply <br />with any other order made thereunder, or builds in violation of <br />any detailed statement of specifications or plans submitted and <br />approved thereunder, or any certificate or permit issued thereunder, <br />and from which no appeal has.been taken, or who fails to comply <br />with such an order as affirmed or modified by the Mayor or by a <br />Court of competent jurisdiction, within the time fixed herein, <br />
