RESOLUTION NO. 80- 58 INTRODUCED BY: Council as a Whole AN RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO NELSON PORTER. WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER, a resident of Mayfield Village for nearly forty (40) years, retired from active service to Mayfield Village in August, 1980; and WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER began his career with Mayfield Village as a firefighter in 1945; and WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER did thereafter serve as the first appointed Fire Chief of the Mayfield Village Fire Department from 1946 until his retirement from the Fire Department on April 1, 1966; and WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER did thereafter serve as a school guard for the residents of Mayfield Village from August 1970 until August 1980; and WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER, during his employ with Mayfield Village, did faithfully and diligently serve the residents of Mayfield Village and has distinguished himself as a public employee; and WHEREAS, NELSON PORTER, should not be allowed to leave the employ of Mayfield Village without an expression of the appreciation which he rightfully deserves; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. Official commendation and appreciation is hereby extended to NELSON PORTER for faithful, devoted and effective service to Mayfield Village as a firefighter, Fire Chief and school guard. Section 2. The Clerk is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to prepare duplicate original copies of this Resolution. One such original copy shall be presented to NELSON PORTER as a small token of the esteem in which he is held by the residents, officials, staff members and employees of Mayfield Village. The other original shall be placed in the permanent records of the Village as a lasting tribute to NELSON PORTER. Section 3.' This Resolution shall take effect at the earliest time allowed by law.
