<br />ROAD GRADING AND PAVING SPECIFICATIONS
<br />FOR
<br />- ~~1AYFIELD VILLAGE
<br />ydhenever any person, form or corporation desires to improve a road, street,
<br />highway, land, boulevard or other way in The Village of p~ra~rfield, he must,
<br />in addition to conforming with the provisions of the Village platting prdin-
<br />ance, first grade, drain and pave said road, street, highway, lane, boulevard
<br />or other way iri accordance with the following Bpecifications:-
<br /> The details accompanying Ordinance No, are understood to be part
<br /> of the specification.. '
<br /> For the sake of brevity, the word ~~owner-~ shall be understood to mean any person,
<br /> firm or corporation as outlined in paragraph above. The word'~~Village-~ shall
<br />DEFINITIONS mean the Village of ~,~ayfield, Ohio. The word ~~p~gineer11 shall mean the Engineer
<br /> of hayfield, The word f-Inspector~~ shall mean the Inspector of hayfield Village.
<br /> Should the owner elect any other type of base or wearing surface than that set
<br /> forth below., or elect to change any other specification contained herein, the
<br />'
<br /> owner shall submit to the F~gineer a complete detailed specification, prepared
<br />/~~~ by a Registered Engineer, covering the desired changes, Any such change shall
<br />~-~;'~;
<br />~~ only be used after it has been approved in writing by the Engineer and by
<br />resolution of the Council, The owner shall deposit with the Village Clerk a
<br />~~ certified check in amount determined by~Council as sufficient to pay all charges.

<br /> The ovrner shall, before beginning any construction work,.furnish definite plans
<br /> and.profiles satisfactory to the Village Council and ~igineer showing definite
<br /> location of work to be done, a lay-out of street drainage system and materials
<br />DRAINAGE to be used, and profiles showing gradients of street drainage ditches and
<br /> structures; together with limits of areas draining into said ditches and struc-
<br />" All plans, specifications, profiles, determination of drainage sizes

<br />etc. must be prepared by a Registered Engineer evidenced by affixing of his
<br /> official seal thereto.
<br /> Owner shall. construct, at intervals of not more than three hundred and fifty
<br /> feet apart, on the high side of street intersections and at low spots, drainage
<br />DPAINAGE structures as shown on typical cross section or an equal approved by Village
<br />STRUCTURES Council. Should topography of surrounding territory preclude removal of storm
<br /> water at locations specified above, ownerfs plan shall show a storm water
<br /> system which shall be satisfactory to the Village and its Engineer. On any
<br />~~ ditches having gradients of over 2M, owner shall provide suitable means,
<br />', satisfactory to Village and Engineer, to prevent erosion in said ditches.
<br />~, GRADING: The owner of the street shall grade the street to at least the width
<br />
<br />~ shown on cross section included in Ordinance No. ~ ~ ~ including
<br />~ING slopes and subgrade for pavement. All vndergrowt , rees, o paving, shale,
<br />-- rock, old culvert walls, sluices, sod, loam or other objectionable materials
<br /> encountered during progress of work shall be removed from the road to full
<br /> depth of subgrade.' Grading shall include formatior_ of all slopes, embankments
<br /> and filling as herein specified and as shown on said cross section.
<br /> All earth filling and embankments in the road bed shall be thoroughly consolid-
<br />- ated by rolling iii layers not exceeding `one "foot- (lt-) in-deptYi and Uoth fill
<br /> embankments and the subgrade shall be compacted by rolling with an approved
<br /> roller weighing not less than ten (10) tons, except upon the subgrade where in
<br />ROLLING the opinion of the Village F~gineer, such roller can not be satisfactorily
<br /> operated, in which case a lighter roller, meeting the approval of the Village
<br /> ~igineer~ may be used, and tamping in such manner and to such extent that
<br /> additional rolling and tamping do not add to the density of the subgrade. The
<br />i roller shall be so operated as to roll the entire roadway, returns, and inter-
<br /> sections, at least three (3) times and additional operations where ordered„
