<br />Sec.174. SPEOKE PIPES'. Vomere smoke pipes pass through a wood or plastered
<br />stud partition or flurred ttrall, or floor, they shall be surrounded wither by a, bod,y

<br />smoke pipe or they ghall be surrounded py, a double safety thimble of sheet metal
<br />made or two (2) concentric rings of sheet metal, at least one (l)•inch apart, and

<br />tance shall not be less than eigh.t (8) incheso Smoke pipes of larger area than six (6) square feet shall be kept at least
<br />three (3) feet distant from any woodwork, unless the same i4 properly pratected by

<br />Sec.175. SIUiOFM, PIP?,' SHIELDS. The metal shields prescribed in the previous
<br />section sha11 be at least one•-ancl:t one-half (1? ) the dia,meter of the -pipe in -vvidth
<br />and shall have a ventilated air space of at least one (1) inch petilreen shield and
<br />woodtvork. Incombustible coverings, as prescriUed in Section 179; may be,.suUsti-
<br />tuted for metal shields; or the smoke pipe may be covered as prescribed for steam
<br />pipe in Section 177. • Sec.176. Hot air pipes conveying hot air from hot air furnaces built in be-
<br />tiveen timbers or joists, or throu,;n the same, or through wood floors, or in wood
<br />partitions, or other combustible materials within ten `101 inches of the same, shall
<br />be made double. ' The space betixTeen the two metal pi'pes on all sides shall be at least three-
<br />eighths (3/8) of an inch in the clea.r, and the two pipes shall be_kept•apart from
<br />each other by the }nsertion of a sufficient nuniber of inetallic separ?,tors bet?reen,
<br />one for evex?r t?vo ?2) feet'of leng'uh of the p.ipe. Szch pipes are to be made with
<br />air tight joints, without soldering thein, and shall be securely fastened to t he par-
<br />tions at every ti7o (2) feet interval and at least one-half (2) an inch from any un-
<br />protected ivoodwork. , No vertical hot air pipe shall be placed in a stud partition, or in,a wood
<br />enclosure, unless it be at least one-half (2) of a diameter of the lea.st dii:?ension
