Twenty-four square feet of roof area
in horizontal projection shall count as 2 fix-
ture units and each 24 square feet of yard
area contributing to the drain shall count
as 1 fixture unit.
110
1593.61 Sizes of soil' and waste piping, build-
ing drains and sewers.
The maximum number of fixture units
that may be connected to a given size of
building sewer, building drain, horizontal
branch, or vertical soil or waste stack, is
given in Table 93D.
TABLE 93D
PIPE SIZES AND CORRESPONDING FIXTURE-
UNIT LOAD
Maximum Fixture Units that may be
Connected to:
Building Drain or Sewer Vertical Soil or
~/a I/4 ~/z Horizontal Waste Stack
Inch Inch Inch, Fixture 1 to 3 Stories
Inches Fall Fall Fall Branch In Height
lI/i 3 4
2 21 26 6 10
2~Z 24 31 12 20
3 20* 27* 36* 20* 30**
4 180 216 250 160 240
* Not over two water closets.
* * Not over six water closets.
1593.62 Minimum size of soil and waste
stacks.
(a) Not smaller than largest horizontal
branch. No soil or waste stack shall be
smaller than the largest horizontal branch
connected thereto, except that a 4 x 3 W. C.
connection shall not be considered as a re-
duction in pipe size,
(b) Required in every dwelling, When-
ever floor drains or other plumbing fixtures
are installed in any building intended for
human occupancy, there shall be at least
one stack not less than 3 inches in diameter
extending upward from the building drain
to the outer air, terminating as prescribed
for stack vents in Section 1593.74.
(c) Minimum sizes. No soil stack shall
be less than 3 inches in diameter and no
waste stack shall be less than 1~/z inches in
diameter.
(d) Kitchen-type sink. When the waste
stack or vent receives the discharge of a
kitchen-type sink and also serves as a vent
for fixtures connected to the horizontal por-
tion of the branch served by the waste stack,
the minimum size of the waste stack up to
the highest sink branch connection shall be
two inches in diameter. Above that point,
the size of the stack shall be governed by the
total fixture units vented by the stack.
1593.63 Minimum sizes of underground
building drains.
Building drains or parts thereof installed
underground or below a basement or cellar
floor shall be of pipe not less than 2-inch
diameter, provided further that non-metallic
pipe shall be not less than 4-inch diameter.
1593.64 Offsets in soil o'r waste stacks.
When an offset in a soil or waste stack is
made at an angle greater than 45° to the
vertical and the load on the stack above the
offset is greater than ~/z the allowable load
on the stack given in Table 93D, no horizon-
tal branch shall connect within 2 feet above
or below the offset.
1593.65 Storm drainage.
(a) Collected and drained to storm sewer,
Roofs and paved areas, yards, courts and
open shafts, and every open excavation or
part of a lot or premises where water ac-
cumulates shall be drained into a storm
sewer except as provided in subsection (b)
of this Section.
