Open Hering on Ordinances No. 763 and 764 <br />April 27, 1962 <br />Public Hearing was held in the Mayfield Village Hall, Mayfield Village at 8:00 P.M. <br />~' on April 27, 1962 to discuss an ordinance to Amend Ordinance No. 159, "The Zoning Ordinance <br />of the Village of Mayfield by adding Section ,'~30, creating Motor Service District, Office <br />Laboratory District and Production Distribution District. Mayor Endress presided and the <br />following members of Council, Zoning Commission and other Officials were present. <br />The Messrs. Belzer, Bennett, Mason, Sloan, Wedler and Zorn - - Arnold M. Edelman Solicitor - <br />Messrs. Fitzgerald and Hoag of the Zoning and Planning Commission. <br />Forty Three people attended and this meeting was opened by the Mayor, who first explained <br />the purpose of the meeting. He also reported that in a recent discussion with Governor <br />Di Salle, that he was told that our request for Federal Funds to assist in creating a Master <br />Zoning Plan for our Village would be forthcoming. <br />Mayor Endress then called upon Mr. Edelman, our solicitor toexplain further, the purpose of <br />this meeting, <br />Mr. Edelman read highlights from the proposed ordinance to Amend Ordinance No. 159, which <br />specifically were Ordinances No. 763 and 764. <br />I'~ir. ~rJilliam Henry, Director of the Regional Planning Commission spoke next. He explained <br />the history of the proposed plan. He outlined the interstate road system in Ohio; its <br />present status and future plans. He said there were approximately 1,500 miles of inter- <br />state road system in Ohio and approximately 130 miles in Cuyahoga County. <br />The Nlayor pointed out how taxes financed and benefited the County as well as the Village <br />,. and just what might be expected from increased industry, etc., along the Interstate Highvray <br />that passed through our Village. The meeting was then opened for questions or objections <br />from the floor. <br />The following is an account of this interchange of questions: <br />Q; NIr. Henry Briggs - What will happen to land adjacent to the interchange immediately south <br />of Wilson Mills Road? <br />A: Mr. Henry - We shall have to await the comprehensive plan, the present interim plan has <br />to do with the approximately 300 acres North of Wilson Nlills Road. <br />Q: Mr. Philip Lazaro - How will industry get in and out of this area? <br />A: Mr. Henry - An interior road has been devised. An Area map was then displayed. _ _ ...... <br />Q: - Mr. Stark - How will the industry front? <br />A: Mr. Henry - On the access road. <br />Q: - Mr. Joy - Will the property just west of S.O.M. be rezoned parcel by parcel? <br />A: Mr. Edel~~an - No, it ~oill probably be rezoned in its entirety at a later date. <br />Mr. Abenroth of the Regional Plan then went into further explanation of <br />the plan. <br />Q: Mr. C. Meyer - What are you recommending to Highland Heights? <br />A: Pfir. Henry - About. the same plan. <br />Q: Mr. Meyer - Could nice homes be built along the freeway? <br />A: Mr. Henry - They could but we don't think it would be the best use for the land. <br />"Mr. Martin Colby - I'm in favor of this plan and I think the Zoning Comm- <br />ission and Council should be complemented. <br />',iZ: Mr. Briggs - hill the plan result in a spot zoning problem on our property south of <br />Wilson N:ills at the interchange? <br />r <br />A: Nir. Henry - No. This plan will prevent spot zoning. <br />
