REPORT OF PUBLIC Ili~ttING ON K1'tiRTMr~NT HOUSE ORDIN~I~TCE
rdinance No. 780, by Mr. ivason, "An Ordinance to amen certain provisions of Ordinance
159, the Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Mayfield pertaining to Apartment Houses,
by .F~mending and Revising Sections 7,8,9,11,13,14,15,16, 17, 18 and 20 thereof, and by
adding sections 13 (a) and 16 (a) and to Declare an Emergency", - - and put upon its
first reading at the October 15, 1962 meeting of Council, was advertised for a public
hearing to be held at the Town Hall at 7:30 P.yI., on November 19, 1962.
Mayor LYidress called this meeting to Order at '7:30 Y.M. November 19, 1962 with all
members of Council present. There were only four or five persons in the audience at
this meeting.
Mr. Edelman reporting at this meeting that a legal notice had been inserted in the
Shaker Heights Sun Press and that this ordinance had been referred to the Zoning and
Planning Commission; that several amendments were made at that time; that Ordinance No
780 with amendments attached had been turned over to the Zoning and Planning Commission
for recommendations and also to Council. i~Ir. Edelman then read the changes in this
ordinance that were different from the old ordinance.
i~iayor Endress then asked for comments on this ordinance; that the Zoning and Planning
Commission had spent two and one half hours on this ordinance on tIonday and that most
of the recommendations are the result of conferences with the Regional Planning Commision,
and the Zoning and Planning Commission.
Mr. VanCuran said that he was pleased to see that the lot area had been increased; that
this was more in keeping with that of other municipalities, but that the minimum size
--nder the new ordinance made it a rather sizeable project. He said that it was his
experience that builders tried to put the maximum units under the law into the project;
that this restricted it to a few builders; that tl~.ere was very little land in the
village for this and this makes the projects for big builders only.
Nlr. Belzer said that he did not care for 4'/z acres; it a,ould stop him from building.
i~~iayor Endress then asked if Nir. Belzer wanted no limit, Ivir. Belzer said that we must
have some limit but who is to set this. Nir. Belzer said he was thinking of the man who
wanted to build 12 or 15 suits.
i~•ir. Edelman then read the part of the ordinance covering area size to the public.
liayor Ehdress then remarked that Mr. ~-~benroth of the Regional Planning Commission
thought that putting apartments in commercial areas was not good; that he favored
clusters instead.
There being no further comments at this public hearing, Mayor Eridress then adjourned
the meeting.
