ORDINANCE No, 793 <br />By Mr. Belzer <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 3 OF ORDINANCE N0. 476, <br />AS AMENDED, BY INCREASING, THE COMPENSATION OF THE <br />CHIEF OF THE. FIRE DEPARTMENT _ <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCII~ OF THE VILZAGE OF MAYFIEZD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />OHIO, THAT: _ .... <br />Sec. 1. Section3 of Ordinance No. 476, entitled: "An Ordinance Re- <br />Codifying the Various Ordinances Establishing and Creating ,a Volunteer Fire <br />Department for the Village of Mayfield, Adding the Position of Assistant <br />Chief, and Repealing Ordinances Nos. 231, 292, 302,_412, 434, 462, and All <br />Ordinances Inconsistent Herewith", as amended by Ordinances Nos. 525, 604, <br />and 759, is.hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Sec. 3. The Fire Department is authorized to act and to use <br />the fire apparatus of the ,Village in times of emergency to safeguard <br />life, limb, property; and the public safety and health. The Chief <br />of the Fire Department shall be paid the sum of $15.00 for each fire <br />or emergency .call up to the first hour thereof. .Each other officer <br />of the Fire Department shall be paid the sum of $5.00 for each fire <br />or emergency_ca11 up to the first hour thereof. .Each other volunteer <br />fireman shall be paid the sum of $4.00 for each fire or emergency <br />call up to the first hour thereof, The Chief of the Fire Department, <br />each officer and each volunteer fireman shall be paid ,the sum of <br />$1.85 for each additional hour or major portion thereof spent in <br />answering such fire or emergency call. A fire call or emergency <br />call shall be deemed to begin when the fire equipment leaves its <br />regular station and to end when it has been returned thereto. The <br />Chief of the Fire Department is authorized to employ a fireman . <br />whose duties shall_,be to remain in the fire station and answer' <br />telephones, work upon and maintain the fire equipment, and to <br />perform incidental duties within the confines of the fire station. <br />Such fireman may be removed at any time at the pleasure of the Mayor <br />or Chief of the Fire Department and he shall be paid the sum of $1,85 <br />for each hour worked and shall be employed for not more than 40 hours <br />in any one month. The Assistant Chief shall act as Chief of the Fire <br />Department in the absence of the Chief, and shall receive $10.00 for <br />each fire or emergency call up to the first hour thereof while acting <br />in the place of the Chief, and $1.85 for each additional hour or major <br />portion thereof spent in answering such fire or emergency call; but, <br />at all times when the Chief is acting, the Assistant Chief shall be <br />paid at the same rate of compensation as other officers of the Fire <br />Department. If the Chief of the Fire Department does not personally <br />answer a particular call involving a building fire, but makes a written <br />report regarding said building fire to the State Fire Marshall, or other <br />
