ORDINANCE No, 831 <br />By Mr. Shaw <br />AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE N0. 788 ENTITLED: "AN <br />ORDINANCE ADOPTING A.FIRE_PREVENTION CODE,.PRESCRI$ING <br />REGULATIONS ,GOVERNING CONDITIONS. HAZARDOUS TO-LIFE-AND <br />PROPERTY FROM EIRE.OR EXPLOSION, AND ESTABLISHING A <br />BUREAU OF FIRE.PREVENTION-AND PROVIDING. OFFICERS <br />THEREFOR AND DEFINING THEIR POWERS_AND DUTIES," BY <br />ADDING SECTION 13 PERTAINING TO PERMITS .FOR BLASTING. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF PIAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />OHIO, THAT: _ -- -• <br />Sec. 1. Ordinance No, 788, entitled: "An Ordinance Adopting a Fire <br />Prevention Code, Prescribing Regulations Governing Conditions Hazardous to <br />Life and Property from Fire or Explosion, and Establishing a Bureau of Fire <br />Prevention and Providing Officers Therefor and Defining Their. Powers and <br />Duties" is hereby amended by adding Section 13 .which shall read as follows: <br />"Sec. 13, Notwithstanding any of the provisions of other sections <br />of Ordinance No. 788, the following provisions shall apply as to blasting: <br />(a) It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation, to blast <br />with dynamite, gunpowder or any other explosive compound, within the limits <br />of the Village of rlayfield, Ohio, unless there first shall have been obtained <br />a written permit from the Chief of Police. Said permit shall set forth <br />the time at which and the circumstances under which said blasting may be <br />done. The fee for such permit shall be $10.00 and shall be for such <br />period as the Chief of Police may designate, but not for more than 60 <br />days; the permit may be renewed by the Chief of Police for an additional <br />period of 60 days without payment of an additional fee. (b) Before a <br />permit to do blasting shall be issued, the applicant for such permit <br />shall file a liability insurance policy in the sum of $100,000.00 for <br />any one individual, and•$300,000.00 for any accident, covering bodily <br />injury and wrongful death and in the amount of _$50,000.00 for any <br />property damage caused by such blasting. Such policy must be approved <br />by the Solicitor of the Village and the policy or a copy thereof or <br />certificate thereof shall be filed with the Chief of Police. (c) The <br />Chief of Police shall supply an Inspector, who shall supervise all <br />drilling, charging, and shooting of all holes. Said Inspector shall <br />not be required by the contractor to work less than 6 hours in any one <br />day. The contractor shall compensate the Village of Mayfield at the <br />rate of $2.50 for each hour charged under this section and paragraph." <br />
