RESOLUTION N0. 85-18 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH SHERMAN-BARON, INC. FOR THE PURCHASE OF POLICE PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY INSURANCE, DECLARING THE SAME TO BE A TRU E EMERGENCY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, were recently informed that the Village policy of police professional liability insurance was about to expire; and WHEREAS, because of the late notification concerning the expiration date of the existing policy there was not time enough to formally advertise for bids for the purchase of a new policy; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council were able to obtain several informal bids for the sale to the municipality of the said insurance policy; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have determined that it is necessary to protect the assets of the municipality and its taxpayers to purchase a policy of police professional liability insurance without allowing any lapse of coverage; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have further determined that Sherman-Baron, Inc, is the lowest and best of the informal bidders for the sale to the municipality of a policy of police professional liability insurance; now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1. The Mayor and Director of Finance are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract for the purchase of police professional liability insurance from Sherman-Baron, Inc. in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Three Hundred Dollars (55,300.00) for the policy period commencing March 16, 1985 and terminating March 16, 1986. Section 2. The contract authorized herein is hereby declared to be a true emergency for the reasons set forth in the preamble hereto and, therefore, no competitive bidding was required. Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compli- ance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
