RESOLUTION N0. 85- 48 INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE VILLAGE OF GATES MILLS EXTENDING THE PREVIOUSLY EXECUTED AGREEMENT FOR THE INTERCHANGE OF POLICE AND FIRE PROTECTION SERVICES FOR AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD OF SIX (6) MONTHS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the Council of Mayfield Village has previously adopted Resolution No. 84-13 on May 21, 1984 authorizing the Mayor and Director. of Finance to enter into an agreement for the interchange of police and fire protection services with the Village of Gates Mills as specified in the Agreement attached to, and incorporated in, the of oresaid Resolution; and WHEREAS, the Council of the Village of Gates Mills adopted Ordinance No. 2119 on May 14, 1984 authorizing the execution of the agreement as of oresaid; and WHEREAS, the agreement attached to and incorporated in Mayfield Village Resolution No. 84-13 and Village of. Gates Mills Ordinance No. 2119 provided for an interchange of police and fire protection services for a period of six (6) months from and after the date on which the jail facility of the Village of Gates Mills was certified by the State of Ohio, Department of Rehabilitation and Correction; and WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village are desirous of extending the aforesaid six (6) month period for an additional period of six (6) months for the reason that the inter- change of police and fire protection services as specified in the aforesaid agreement has benefitted the .residents of both municipal- ities; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFILED VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: Section 1~, The agreement executed by the Mayor and Director of Finance of Mayfield Village, Ohio, for the interchange of police and fire protection services with the Village of Gates Mills, as authorized by Mayfield Village Resolution No. 84-13, is hereby extended for an additional period of six (6) months. Section 2. The authorization for extension of the afore- said agreement as specified in Section 1 is contingent upon a similar action being taken by the Council of the Village of Gates Mills. Section 3. The Mayor, Director of Finance and Director of Law, are hereby authorized and directed to take whatever steps are necessary in order to implement the extension of the of oresaid agree- ment as. authorized herein.
