RESOLUTION N0. 83-( .

INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Beebe and Council as a Whole
A RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO THE
RATE INCREASE REQUESTED BY THE OHIO
BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY.
WHEREAS; the Ohio Bell Telephone Company has recently
announced its intent to seek from the Public Utilities Commission of
Ohio an additional rate increase for telephone service in its entire
service area; and
WHEREAS, this proposed rate increase, if permitted, would
increase the already extreme financial burdens borne by the residents
of Mayfield Village and other communities throughout Northeastern Ohio
by increasing the already exhorbitant utility bills and would be a
particular hardship on senior citizens and other individuals on fixed
incomes; and
a WHEREAS, there does not appear to be any justification for
inrease in rates and charges as proposed by the Ohio Bell Telephone
Company and is another example of their disregard for customers and
the public interest; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF AZAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT:
Section 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village,
Ohio, urge the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio to reject the
latest rate increase proposed by the Ohio Bell Telephone Company.
Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and
directed to forward a copy of this Resolution to Governor Richard
Celeste, to all members of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, to
the entire Cuyahoga County delegation to the General Assembly and to
the Clerks of Council of all municipalities in Cuyahoga County.
Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all
formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this
Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that
deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such
formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in
compliance with all statutory requirements, including the requirements
of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
