Resolution No. 915 <br />Introduced by: Mr. Busa <br />A RESOLUTION OBJECTING TO WATER RATES BEING <br />CHARGED SUBURBS BY THE CLEVELAND WATER <br />DEPARTMENT, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, a disparity exists between water rates being charged Cleveland users <br />and suburban customers; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, SE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, CUYAHOGA <br />COIINTY, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1.. The Cleveland City users pay One Dollar and Eighty-Three Cents <br />($1.83) for the first thousand cubic feet water consumed or the fraction thereof. <br />The suburban rates are as follows: First High is Three Dollars and Forty-Eight Cents <br />($3.48) for the first thousand cubic feet.water consumed or the fraction thereof; <br />Second High is Four pollars and Fourteen Cents ($4.14) for the first thousand cubic <br />feet water consumed or the fraction thereof; Third High is Five Dollars and Thirteen <br />Cents ($5.13) for the first thousand cubic feet water consumed or the fraction thereof. <br />The rates beyond the first thousand cubic feet of water consumed are in accordance <br />with a schedule of rates as published by the Cleveland Water Department. <br />Section 2. This Council, Administration and Mayor hereby object to this rate <br />disparity and recommend that for rate uniformity a Regional Water Authority be created. <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council be and he is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward certified copies of this resolution to the Cleveland City Council, all <br />suburban Councils, and the Regional Sewer Authority. <br />Section 4. This resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public healt.h, safety and welfare <br />of Mayfield Village and its inhabitants, and for the further reason that a disparity <br />exists in water rates, thus creating a prejudicial hardship for suburban residents, <br />and further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />Passed: January 19, 1976 <br />Attest: <br />Z_(/ <br />CLERIZ OF .COUNCIL <br />Approyed, 76 <br />?YO ?
