Resolution No. 994 <br />Introduced by: Mr. Bennett <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A 1.6 MILL <br />LEVY FOR FIVE YEARS FOR PAYMENT OF SALARES OF PER- <br />MANENT POLICE PERSONNEL FOR THE TAX DUPLICATE YEARS <br />1977 TO 1981, BOTH INCLUSIVE, AND DELCARING AN <br />EMERGENCY <br />WHEREAS, Section 5705.19 of the Ohio Revised Code affords relief <br />by enabling taxing districts to submit a proposal for an additional levy of <br />taxes for payment of salaries of perma.nent police personnel to the electors <br />at the succeeding November election; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, TWO-THIRDS <br />OF ALL MEMBERS ELECTED THERETO CONCURRING, THAT: <br />( Section l. The amount of taxes which may be raised by the levy of <br />taxes within the ten (10) mill limitation authorized by Section 5705.02 of the <br />Ohio Revised Code will be insufficient to provide an adeuate amount for the <br />payment of salaries of perma.nent police personnel, and it is necessary for <br />the purpose of providing additional funds for payment of salaries of permanent <br />police personnel that taxes be levied on the taxable property in said Village <br />for a period of 5 years at a rate in excess of such maximum return authorized <br />by said Section 5705.02 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 2. The question of the renewal of a 1.6 mill levy on each <br />dollar of the tax valuation of the taxable property on the tax duplicate within <br />riayfield Village, Ohio, which amounts to 16? on each $100.00 of valuation of <br />said property, for a period of five years, beginning with the tax duplicate <br />year 1977, for payment of salaries of perma.nent police personnel for the Village <br />under theprovisions of Section 5705.19 of the Ohio Revised Code, be submitted <br />to the electors of Ma.yfield Village at the general election to be held on the <br />8th day of November, 1977, as authorized by law, and said election shall be held <br />at the regular places of voting in said district9 as established by the Board of <br />Elections of Cuyahoga County, Ohio, between the hours of 6e30 o'clock A.M. and <br />6:30 o'clock P.M., Eastern Standard Time, and that said election shall be con- <br />ducted, canvassed, and certified in the manner provided by law. <br />Section 3. The Village Clerk be, and she hereby is, directed to give <br />notice of said election as provided by law. <br />Section 4. The Village Clerk be, and she hereby is, directed to <br />certify a copy of this Resolution to the Board of Elections of C.uyahoga Couny, <br />Ohio.
