04/17/89 <br />-00 RESOLUTION N0. 89- Zg <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />URGING THE FEDERAL AND STATE OFFICIALS TO <br />INVESTIGATE THE PROPRIETY OF THE RECENT INCREASES <br />IN GASOLINE PRICES <br />WHEREAS, gasoline prices at service station pumps in Northeast Ohio have <br />increased nearly 'lraenty (207) Percent in recent weeks; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been reported that such increases will cost the consumers <br />an extra Thirty Million Dollars ($30,000,000.00) per day nationwide; and <br />WHF.RF.AG, such increases could cost the Ohio economy more than Four <br />Hundred Million ($400,000,000.00) if the increases remain in place through the <br />end of December; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Mayor and Council to £ormerly request <br />that the federal and state officials investigate such increases for the <br />benefit of all consumers; now, therefore, <br />40 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio hereby uxge <br />the federal and state officials to investigate the propriety of the recent <br />increases of gasoline pxices. <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward a copy of this Resolution to Unites States Senator Howard Metzanbaum, <br />United States Senator John Glenn, Governor Richard Celeste, State Senator Lee <br />Fisher, State Representative Ronald J. Suster and the local news media. <br />SECTION 3.
