RESOLUTION N0. '74'7 <br />BY: MR. SCHMIDT <br />A RESOLUT-ION OF COMMENDATION FOR SERGEANT WILLIAM KRAHL, JR. <br />WHEREAS, William Krahl, Jr., a resident of the-Village of rayfield, <br />enlisted in the Army of the United States after one year at college, because <br />he felt it was his patriotic duty to participate in a cause in which he be- <br />lieved; and <br />WHEREAS, after basic training, he requested duty in Viet Name but <br />at first was sent to .Italy for a period of six months, but later at his request <br />was sent to Viet Nam with the Fourth Infantry Division;-and <br />WHEREAS, he was wounded in action and spent six weeks in the hospital; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, after receiving the Purple Heart he asked to be returned to <br />Viet Nam, this time with the First Air Cavalry, as an air trooper; and <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Krahl, despite an.attack of malaria and a rabid <br />dog bite, still was able to serve in aJ,l of .the major campaigns; and <br />WHEREAS? after serving in over 25 air missions, Sergeant Krahl has <br />been awarded four Bronze Stars plus a "V" for valor; and <br />WHEREAS, Sergeant Krahl is now about to return from his furlough <br />to Ft. Jackson, South Carolina, awaiting his discharge from the service in <br />April of 1969. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BX THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF <br />HAYFIELD, CUYAHOGA COUNTY,, OHIO, .THAT: <br />Section 1.
