RESOLUTION N0. 791 <br />BY: MR. DAMS <br />A RESOLUTION MEMORIALIZING THE OHIO GENERAL <br />ASSEMBLY TO ADOPT LEGISLATION TO AMEND THE OHIO <br />CONSTITUTION SO AS TO GIVE RELIEF TO THE <br />INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYER AS OPPOSED TO COMMERCIAL <br />AND INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY OWNERS. <br />WfiEREAS, under the rule expounded in the Park Investment Case as decided <br />by the Ohio Supreme Court, the individual property owner is being taxed at the <br />same rate as the owners of commercial and industrial properties, and <br />T~]HEREAS, this Council believes this to be completely inequitable and has <br />the effect of putting an unbearable financial burden upon the citizens of our <br />Village and State; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the Council of the Village of Mayfield, <br />County of Cuyahoga and State.of Ohio, that: <br />Section 1. The Ohio General Assembly is hereby memorialized to enact <br />legislation to amend the Constitution of Ohio so as to provide relief for owners <br />of private property who now must pay their property taxes at the same rate of <br />taxation as the owners of commercial and industrial properties. <br />Section 2. The Clerk-Treasurer of this Council is hereby directed to <br />transmit certified copies of this Resolution to the Honorable Charles i~7. Kurfess, <br />speaker of the House of Representatives, and to the President of the Ohio Senate. <br />Section 3.
