RESOLUTION N0. 89-59 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />URGING THE OHIO GENERAL ASSEMBLY <br />TO ENACT APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION TO <br />SAFEGUARD THE TRANSPORTATION <br />OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS <br />WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of Cuyahoga County to <br />transport hazardous materials from the point of origin to the point of dispos- <br />al at minimum risk; and <br />WHEREAS, the mission of the disposal unit is to make the trips absolutely <br />accident proof; and <br />WHEREAS, the legislature must take what ever precautions necessary to <br />insure that no accidents involving these vehicles ever take place; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, have determine <br />that the Ohio General Assembly should enact appropriate legislation to deter <br />the number of accidents on the highways; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio for them- <br />selves and on behalf of the employees and the residents of Mayfield Village <br />urge the Ohio General Assembly to enact legislation to safeguard the transpor- <br />tation of hazardous materials throughout Cuyahoga County. <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />forward duplicate copies of this Resolution to Governor Richard F. Celeste and <br />to the Cuyahoga County Delegation to the Ohio General Assembly. <br />SECTION 3. The Council £inds and determines that all formal actions of <br />this Council relating to the adoption of this Resolution have been taken at <br />open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations o£ this Council and of <br />its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open <br />to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
