Ordinance 85-17 Page 2 fireman, whether they be full-time or part-time employees, other than those serving a probationary period of employment, who have been continuously employed in the service of the Municipality in the same or similar position, for at least eight (8) 8 months prior to the date such position is placed in the classified service, shall be retained in the same or similar position in the classified service without examination until discharged, reduced, disciplined, promoted or transferred in accordance with this Charter or the Rules and Regulations of the Commission. (6.) Except as to part-time officers of the Fire Department above the rank of fireman, all temporaYy or part-time employees of the Municipality, as such -positions shall be defined by the Rules and Regulations established by the Commission, shall be in the unclassified servicea (7.) ALL DIRECTORS, HEADS, AND CHIEFS OF DEPARTMENTS AND DIVISIONS SHALL BE IIQ THE UNCLASSIFIID SERVICE. ALL SUCH PERSONS IN THE CLP,SSIFIED SERVICE AS OF THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF, SHALL BE RETAINED IN THE CLASSIFIED SEKVICE, PROVIDID THEY CONTINUOUSLY REMAIN IN SUCH POSITION DURING THEIR CONTIN[JED COURSE OF ENIPLOYMENT WITH TiE MUNICIPALITY UNTIL THEY LEAVE THE ENiPLOY OF THE MUNICIPALITY. The valid questi:on for the above proposed Charter Amendment shall read as follows: Shall, Article V, Section 6(B) of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, be amended so as to remove the Heads and Chiefs of all departments within the Municipality from the classified Civil Service? YES NO Section 2. The question as to the proposed Amendment of the Charter of Mayfield Village, Ohio, as set forth in Section 1. hereinabove, shall be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the Municipality at the regularly scheduled general election on November 5, 1985m Section 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to certiTy a copy of this Ordinance to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections immediately upon its enactment for inclusion on the ballot at the regularly scheduled general election to be held in the Municipality on November 5, 1985 and to take such other steps as are required, pursuant to Ohio Law, to cause such election to be validly held. Section 4. 'lhe Director of Law is hereby authorized and directed to cxonfer with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections ard the Secretazy of the State of Ohio regarding a valid question and to make any changes necessary to comply with current election law.
