Ordinance 85-17 <br />Page 2 <br />fireman, whether they be full-time or part-time employees, other than <br />those serving a probationary period of employment, who have been <br />continuously employed in the service of the Municipality in the same <br />or similar position, for at least eight (8) 8 months prior to the <br />date such position is placed in the classified service, shall be <br />retained in the same or similar position in the classified service <br />without examination until discharged, reduced, disciplined, promoted <br />or transferred in accordance with this Charter or the Rules and <br />Regulations of the Commission. <br />(6.) Except as to part-time officers of the Fire Department <br />above the rank of fireman, all temporaYy or part-time employees of the <br />Municipality, as such -positions shall be defined by the Rules and <br />Regulations established by the Commission, shall be in the unclassified <br />servicea <br />(7.) ALL DIRECTORS, HEADS, AND CHIEFS OF DEPARTMENTS AND <br />DIVISIONS SHALL BE IIQ THE UNCLASSIFIID SERVICE. ALL SUCH PERSONS IN THE <br />CLP,SSIFIED SERVICE AS OF THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF, SHALL BE RETAINED IN <br />THE CLASSIFIED SEKVICE, PROVIDID THEY CONTINUOUSLY REMAIN IN SUCH POSITION <br />DURING THEIR CONTIN[JED COURSE OF ENIPLOYMENT WITH TiE MUNICIPALITY UNTIL <br />THEY LEAVE THE ENiPLOY OF THE MUNICIPALITY. <br />The valid questi:on for the above proposed Charter Amendment shall read as <br />follows: <br />Shall, Article V, Section 6(B) of the Charter of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio, be amended so as to remove the Heads and Chiefs of all departments <br />within the Municipality from the classified Civil Service? <br />YES <br />NO <br />Section 2. The question as to the proposed Amendment of the Charter of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, as set forth in Section 1. hereinabove, shall be <br />submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the Municipality at the <br />regularly scheduled general election on November 5, 1985m <br />Section 3. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />certiTy a copy of this Ordinance to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections <br />immediately upon its enactment for inclusion on the ballot at the regularly <br />scheduled general election to be held in the Municipality on November 5, 1985 <br />and to take such other steps as are required, pursuant to Ohio Law, to cause <br />such election to be validly held. <br />Section 4. 'lhe Director of Law is hereby authorized and directed to cxonfer <br />with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections ard the Secretazy of the State of <br />Ohio regarding a valid question and to make any changes necessary to comply with <br />current election law. <br />Section 5. The Council finds and determines that all formal actions of <br />this Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open <br />meetings of this Council and the deliberations of this Council and of its
