Carmen and Council as a Whole. <br />AN ORDINANCE ENACTING SECTION 141.06 OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, <br />REQUIRING ALL ORIGINAL APPOINTEES TO THE FIRE <br />DEPARTMENT OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, TO ACQUIRE <br />AND MAINTAIN CERTIFICATION AS PARAMEDICS AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. Section 141.06 of the Codified Ordinances of <br />Mayfield Village, Ohio, is hereby enacted to read as follows: <br />Chapter 141 <br />Fire Department <br />* ~ ~ <br />141.06 Paramedics. <br />(a) For purposes of this Section a "paramedic" (Emergency <br />Medical Technician-Paramedic) ~tiall be as defined in Section <br />3303.08 of the Ohio Revised C~e, as the same shall be amended <br />from time-to-time. <br />(b) All original appointees to the Fire Department <br />of Mayfield Village, Ohio, from and after the effective date <br />of this Section, shall, as soon as practicable after their <br />appointments, complete the necessary instruction and training <br />for, and become certified by the State of Ohio as, a paramedic <br />in accordance with Sections 3303.08 to 3303,.99 of the Ohio <br />Revised Code, as the same shall- be amended- f rom time-to-time, <br />and shall maintain their status as a State certified paramedic <br />during their tenure of employment with Mayfield Village in <br />accordance with the aforesaid provisions of the`Ohio Revised <br />Code. <br />(c) Contemporaneous with their original appointments to <br />the Fire Department of Mayfield Village, Ohio, all original <br />appointees from and after the effective date of this Section <br />shall execute an agreement, as approved by the Director of <br />Law, with the municipality such that in the event the appointee <br />voluntarily terminates his employment with the municipality <br />within one (1) year following his State certification as a <br />paramedic such appointee shall reimburse the municipality <br />for all sums paid to provide the appointee with the <br />instruction and training required by the Ohio Revised Code <br />to attain the status of paramedic. In the event the appointee <br />fails to reimburse the municipality as required herein the <br />Director of Law is hereby authorized to commence a civil <br />action in a Court of competent jurisdiction to collect any <br />sums due the municipality. <br />
