11/20/89 <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-82 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen and Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION <br />OPPOSING THE PROPOSED CHANGES FOR THE <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM <br />WEiEREAS, changes have been proposed which would have a direct impact on <br />Mayfield Village to apply for the funding from the Comnunity Development Block <br />Grant Program; and <br />WHEREAS, such changes include the classification of several communities as <br />"a£fluent" making them ineligible for projects designed to achieve the <br />national objective of the prevention of slum and blight; and <br />WHEREAS, such proposals also include changes in the method lower income <br />persons all could, causing an increase in the amount o£ overall spending by <br />the Cuyahoga County from 607 to 757; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of Mayfield Village are opposed to the <br />proposed changes since it would limit the flexibility of Cuyahoga County in <br />approving local projects; now, therefore, <br />SE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />SECTION 1. The Mayor and Council oppose the proposals that would change <br />the eligibility of persons and programs qualified to receive funding from the <br />Community Development Block Grant Program. <br />SECTION 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and directed to <br />transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senators John Glenn and Howard <br />Metzenbaum and Congressman Edward F. Feighan, Mary Rose Oakar and Louis Stokes <br />and to the local news media. <br />SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect at the earliest time <br />allowed by law.
