ORDINANCE N0. 86-17 <br />Page-2- <br />take whatever other steps are necessary in order~to comply with all <br />directives of the said Board of Elections in order to secure place- <br />ment on the ballot as aforesaid. <br />Section 3. The Director of Law is hereby authorized and <br />directed to confer with the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, <br />Ohio, and the Secretary of State for the State of Oh io, regarding <br />the ballot question and to make any changes necessary to comply with <br />current election law so long as the substance of any issue is not <br />changed. In the event of the necessity of a substantial change of <br />any issue, the Council shall first be consulted. <br />Section 4. At least thirty (30) days prior to the date <br />of the election as 'set forth in the Ordinance, the Clerk of Council <br />is hereby directed to mail a copy of the full text of the proposed <br />Charter amendment to each elector of the municipality whose name <br />appears upon the registration books for the last regular election <br />held in the municipality. <br />Section 5. The Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions o this Council relating to the eriactment~of this <br />Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and <br />that deliberations of this Council and of its Committees, resulting <br />in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, <br />in compliance with all statlaaory requirements, including the <br />requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 6. This Ordinance is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the <br />health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village, <br />Ohio, for the reason that the"proposed Charter amendment presented <br />herein must be `timely filed with the Board of Elections in accordance <br />with current Ohio law in order to allow the electorate the opportunity <br />to vote thereon.
