RESOLUTION N0. 87-80 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Council President Santo Basile <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CUYAHOGA COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS IN THEIR REQUEST FOR THE REFORM AND <br />RESHAPING OF REGIONAL TRANSIT AUTHORITY MANAGE- <br />MENT. <br />WHEREAS, lack of concern connected with existing safety <br />hazards under the control of the Regional Transit Authority indicates <br />a definite need for immediate reform in management; and <br />WHEREAS, the state and federal findings of waste and mis- <br />management at RTA are of great concern to the residents of Mayfield <br />Village; and <br />WHEREAS, the one percent (1~) County sales tax for mass <br />transit provides a large percentage of the funds RTA expends for <br />operating costs; and <br />WHEREAS, there is an immediate need for management to be <br />more prudent and cost conscious in the operation of RTA and its <br />expenditure of funds; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLV ED BY THE COUNCIL OF HAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Council of Mayfield Village, Ohio, hereby <br />supports the Cuyahoga County Commissioners in their request for the <br />reform and reshaping of Regional Transit Authority management. <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward copies of this Resolution to Cleveland Mayor <br />George Voinovich, the Regional Transit Authority Board of Trustees; <br />the Cuyahoga County Commissioners and to the Clerks of Council for <br />other municipalities in the Hillcrest area. <br />Section 3. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 4.
