RESOLUTION N0. 87-8 <br />INTRODUCED BY: Mayor Carmen & Council as a Whole <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND PRESIDENT <br />OF COUNCIL TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH THE GMC <br />TRUCK CENTER IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED EIGHT <br />THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED FORTY NINE DOLLARS AND FIFTY <br />CENTS ($8,249.50) FOR THE REPAIR OF THE 1980 GMC <br />HORTON AMBULANCE, DECLARING SAID REPAIRS TO BE A <br />TRUE EMERGENCY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council have recently been advised <br />that the 1980 GMC Horton Ambulance currently owned by the municipality <br />needs immediate repairs in order to keep it operational; and <br />WHEREAS, the aforesaid repairs are of such urgent nature <br />that unless the same are made the engine will, in all probability, <br />explode with only a few more operational hours; and <br />WHEREAS, the municipality must maintain two (2) operational <br />ambulances in order to service the needs of its residents as well as <br />to perform under the terms and conditions of an agreement with the <br />Village of Gates Mills whereby the municipality is to provide that <br />Village with ambulance service in exchange for jail facility for <br />Mayfield Village prisoners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Village has been able to obtain a favorable <br />estimate for the repairs necessary to keep the subject ambulance <br />operational, said estimate for repairs having been obtained from the <br />GMC Truck Center; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF MAYFIELD VILLAGE, OHIO, THAT: <br />Section 1. The Mayor and President of Council are hereby <br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract with the GMC Truck <br />Center in an amount not to exceed Eight Thousand Two Hundred Forty <br />Nine Dollars and Fifty Cents ($8,249.50) for the repairs necessary to <br />keep the 1980 GMC Horton Ambulance operational. <br />Section 2. Prior to the execution of the aforesaid <br />contract, the GMC Truck Center shall provide an itemized list of <br />repairs to be made, said repair not to exceed the sum authorized <br />herein. <br />Section 3. The repair work authorized herein is hereby <br />declared to be a true emergency immediately necessary to preserve the <br />health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village for <br />the reasons set forth in the preamble hereto and the same is, <br />therefore, authorized without the necessity of competitive bidding. <br />Section 4. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />
