M.V. RESOLUTION NO. 87-14 <br />Page -2- <br />during which Viacom should produce the appropriate cost data to <br />justify the implemented increase. <br />Section 3. The Mayor and Council further request that <br />Viacom Cablevision provide a senior citizen discount of 20-25~ in <br />order to alleviate the burden on senior citizens who often rely upon <br />television as not only a major source of entertainment, but also for <br />news. <br />Section 4. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a duplicate copy of this Resolution to the <br />following named persons and in so doing to request from same a written <br />response to the matter raised herein: The General Manager of Viacom <br />Cablevision; United States Senators John Glenn and Howard Metzenbaum; <br />U.S. Representative Edward Feighan; State Senator Lee I. Fisher; State <br />Representative Ronald Suster; and the Mayors and Presidents of Council <br />for all municipalities in Northeastern Ohio currently served by Viacom <br />Cablevision. <br />Section 5. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Resolution have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements <br />of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />Section 6. This Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure necessary for the immediate preservation of the <br />health, safety and welfare of the residents of Mayfield Village for <br />the reasons set forth in the preamble hereto.
