M.V. ORDINANCE N0. 87- 23 <br />Page -2- <br />and commissions in their official capacities, and shall <br />perform such other duties, consistent with this office, as <br />may be assigned form time-to- time by the Mayor and Council." <br />The question to appear on the ballot shall be as follows: <br />A. Shall Article V, Section 4 of the Charter of Mayfield <br />Village, Ohio, be amended so as to delete the <br />prohibition against the Law Director serving in a <br />similar capacity with an adjacent community sharing <br />a common border vaith Mayfield Village? <br />Section 2. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to immediately certify a copy of this Ordinance to the <br />Cuyahoga County Board of Elections in order to have the ballot issue <br />contained herein placed on the ballot for the General Election to be <br />held on November 3, 1987 and to take whatever other steps are <br />necessary in order to comply with a11 directives of the said Board of <br />Elections in order to secure placement on the ballot as aforesaid. <br />Section 3e The Director of Law is hereby authorized and <br />directed to confer with the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County, <br />Ohio and the 5ecretary of State for the State of Ohio regarding the <br />ballot question anc7 to make any changes necessary to comply with <br />current election law so long as the substance of any issue is not <br />- changed. In the event of the necessity of a substantial change of any <br />issue the Council sha1l iirst be consulted. <br />Section 4. The Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to either mail a copy of the full text of the proposed <br />Charter amendment at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of the <br />election as set forth in this Ordinance to each elector of the <br />municipality whose name appears upon the registration books for the <br />last regular election held in the municipality or shall cause the full <br />text of the proposed Charter Amendment to be published once a week for <br />not less than two (2) consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general <br />circulation in the municipality with the first publication being at <br />least fifteen (15) days prior to the election. <br />Section 5. All prior ordinances inconsistent with this <br />ordinance in whole or in part are hereby repealed to the extent <br />necessary to avoid conflict with this ordinancem <br />Section 6. That the Council finds and determines that all <br />formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this <br />Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that <br />deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such <br />formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in <br />compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements <br />of Section 121e22 of the Ohio Revised Code.
